Interior Mood Lighting: 5 Tips for Your Bedroom

0

Your bedroom should be a comfortable, romantic and relaxing sanctuary. Adjusting the lighting in the room can make a big difference, so consider these five tips for adjusting the interior mood lighting in your room.

1. Use Candles

Candles are great for the bedroom for many reasons. Not only are they really romantic, but they’re also great for relaxing and unwinding. Consider investing in a few lightly-scented candles; for example, lavender-scented candles can help you feel more relaxed and sleepy. Spread them around your room in beautiful candleholders for an even more decorative touch.

2. Prepare Your Dressing Area

It’s important to make sure that you can see well when you’re getting dressed, putting on your makeup and picking out the perfect outfit, shoes and accessories. Consider installing vanity lights or a makeup mirror in your dressing area; then, you can turn these brighter lights on when you need them but can easily turn them off when you’re ready to relax.

3. Install a Dimmer

If you have a regular overhead light in your bedroom, consider installing a dimming switch on it. You can pick one up from a hardware store, and they’re relatively easy to install on your own. Then, you’ll be able to adjust the lighting to suit your mood. For example, you can make it a little bit brighter when you’re getting woken up in the morning, and you can turn it down when you’re relaxing and unwinding in the evening.

4. Use Lamps

It’s always a smart idea to use a mix of lamps around your bedroom. Then, you can adjust the lighting at any time to suit your mood and the occasion. Plus, lamps can look beautiful in your room. Consider using a mix of floor lamps and table lamps to get multiple levels of lighting.

5. Use Lighter Bulbs

Instead of buying bright light bulbs for all of your bedroom light fixtures, consider looking for bulbs that offer a softer, white light. Not only can this help you adjust the mood in your bedroom and make it a little more relaxing, but you can also cut down on your utility bills at the same time. Then, you will have more money to spend on lighting and decor for your bedroom and the rest of your home.

As you can see, there are quite a few different ways that you can use lighting to better adjust the mood in your bedroom. Follow these tips, and you can turn your bedroom into the relaxing and comfortable sanctuary that you’ve always known it could be.
