For many of us, the 9-5 office grind just isn’t worth the effort. It wears you down, and leaves you feeling drained and exhausted. The good news is there are alternatives out there. For example, why not look for a job in the great outdoors? The fresh air and beautiful views will instantly improve your mood. There are certainly a wealth of jobs that let you enjoy the outdoors, rather than the four walls of an office. If you’re looking for a change of scenery (literally), keep reading, and we’ll show you some great ideas.
Ski instructor
The ski industry grows every year as more and more people head to the mountains. It’s an incredibly popular pastime, and there are always people looking to learn new skills. That’s where you come in. By completing a ski instructor course, you can spend your entire day on the mountains. You’ll teach the newbies by day, and spend your evenings in the apres ski bars. Come the weekend, you’re free to explore the mountain on your own. There is nowhere more magical to work than the mountains.
Landscape designer
If you love the outdoors, but you’re not much of a thrill-seeker, try something closer to home. Landscape designers are reportedly the happiest people in their jobs. If that doesn’t give you enough inspiration, nothing will! You’ll spend your days creatively improving gardens and landscapes. You’ll enjoy the outdoors air, and feel a sense of accomplishment with each project. There’s a reason those gardeners are so happy!
Outdoors guide
If you love the great outdoors, well, you’re not the only one! There are thousands of keen adventurers that take to the countryside every week. You can be the one to show them around. You could work as a guide, and lead a group of people on hiking trips through the mountains. If you’re more adventurous, you could become a climbing tutor or teach people how to abseil. If you’re a qualified engineer looking to get out of the office, look no further than the surveyor. This is a career that is expanding rapidly. After all, we’re always going to be measuring the world around us, and ultimately building on it! A surveyor will spend most of their time outdoors, enjoying the world around them. Yet again, this is another career with a high percentage of happy workers.
Environmental scientist
Much like the surveyor, this is a job for those qualified persons who are fed up with the office life. If you have some skill and experience in the sciences, why not lend your skills to the environment? It’s the defining topic of our time, and your work will go a long way. As an environmental scientist, you’ll spend much of your time in the great outdoors. Plus, you can take pride in protecting the world around you.
