Although you may enjoy spending holidays across the world with your family, friends or a lover, traveling alone can be of life’s greatest experiences. A solo adventure can be life-changing. Here are five reasons you should consider going abroad at least once in your lifetime.

5 Reasons You Should Travel Alone At Least Once In Your Life

1. Thrive Outside Of Your Comfort Zone

Traveling takes us to new and unfamiliar places. When you travel you get that sense of being outside of your comfort zone. When you’re alone that feeling is multiplied. A trip alone will give you many experiences outside of your comfort zone. You may be surprised at how enjoyable this is but you’ll only experience it if you go ahead and do it. Spending time outside of your comfort zone is an essential part of growing and developing. So go on, even if it’s just hopping on a ferry to France – go outside of your comfort zone – you won’t regret it, we promise!

2. Become Decisive

When you travel with someone else or a group, every idea can be bounced around off someone else. It’s many people’s human nature not to take control. However, when you travel alone there’s only one person in control. From where you sleep, where you eat, what time you wake up and what sights you see – all will be a learning step. You’ll soon realise you can make great choices in life without the help of others around you. You’ll learn to trust your instincts. The new found self-assurance and confidence will help you in other areas of your future.

3. Recharge

When you’re on your own you’re in control, so you can get all the rest and relaxation you crave. There are no worries about being woken up in the middle of the night because your best mate is noisy or snoring. No early starts because your lover wants to get up before sunrise. You don’t even need to set an alarm. You can simply take the time to nurture your mind, body and soul.

4. Meet New People

If you enjoy meeting new friends or simply want to expand your circle, this is the perfect opportunity. You’re more than likely to find new friends when you’re travelling alone. Since you won’t be talking to people you know throughout your time abroad, you’ll likely be more encouraged to start conversations with strangers. Meeting people from different countries and different backgrounds is good for the mind and learning new things. It can be inspirational and expand our world. You may meet some amazing new people or simply other adventure seekers like yourself.

5. Discover

As well as discovering some great new corners of this big, wide world, traveling alone gives you time to discover yourself. When you’re alone, it’s a time for reflection that can make you think about what your purpose, priorities and passions are in life. Being away from your usual circle makes you drop any act you put on and be the real you. This is when you find out what really matters to you in life…
