Why You Should Consider Home Heating Oil

In the UK and Ireland, there are roughly 4,000,000 homes that don’t have a mains gas supply. These homes are mostly in rural areas and any people in these places have to rely on electricity to run their heating and hot water. This is an inefficient and increasingly expensive option so if there’s enough space in your garden or yard you might want to think about installing an oil tank and switching to oil-fired heating.

Here are just a few of the benefits of using oil-fired heating to warm your home and your water.

On the other hand, you may be moving from a gas mains area to a house that already has an oil tank and oil-fired heating. You might be feeling a bit nervous about this, but after reading about the various advantages ol heating offers, you’ll be a lot happier.

It’s much cheaper than you imagine

Oil isn’t like gas or electricity, where you’re connected to a constant supply. You get your oil supply delivered once or twice a year and while this might seem like a big amount to stump up all at once, if you buy your home heating oil from Super Saver Oil you’ll be guaranteed a decent price. Once you’re all filled up, it’s done and dusted. You might have to have a little top up if the winter’s particularly cold, but generally you’re good to go through until spring. Some suppliers will let you pay in stages, and if you get your delivery in the summer, you’ll get the cheap summer prices too. Another idea for saving money is to get your oil delivered at the same time as everyone around you, as this will reduce the delivery charge for everyone.

It’s much safer than you imagine

People can worry about the idea of a massive tank of kerosene at the bottom of their garden, but when you think about it, you may have allowed natural gas to flow through pipes and come out of cooker rings without giving it a second thought! The kerosene isn’t actually flammable and it doesn’t produce fumes or vapours either – it can only ignite when it’s passed through the internal workings of the boiler. As with any heating system, though, you should have a yearly inspection and a service to make sure everything’s as it should be.

It’s more efficient than you imagine

Once upon a time, oil-fired boilers didn’t have temperature controls or thermostats; they were either on or off and you were either hot or cold, unless you wanted to spend your day fiddling with the on-off switch.

Now, thankfully, they come with all the controls you need to create and maintain a comfortable temperature in your home, as well as to set timings so that you don’t have to wake up or come home to an ice box! There are some oil-fired systems that allow you to control individual radiators for a really fine-tuned heating schedule.
